The power grid is 110/120V 60Hz, in some places there might be available 220V-60hz (mainly for commercial applications). Wall socket type for 110v standard are made for three-pronged plugs, the middle of which is the ground. The other two are made in different sizes so there can only be one way to insert the plug.
